About the Show
Because we deserve better explanations — and better conversations.
Each episode explores how national events and policy changes are impacting the lives of young people across the country. We connect national headlines to local realities by amplifying youth voices, exploring expert perspectives, and investigating the real-world impacts of decisions made in Washington and beyond. Through honest conversations and investigative storytelling, we empower our generation to understand, question, and respond to the forces shaping our future.
Civics Shouldn't
Be Boring
Let's be real — most civics education is either dry as hell or so dumbed down it's almost insulting. We're here to change that.
Civics, Unfiltered tackles the big questions: How does government actually work? Why do some policies help people while others don't? And most importantly — what can WE do about it?
We break down complex issues without the jargon, bring on guests who know their stuff, and have real conversations that matter to our generation.

Meet Raif & Sophie
Raif Abahusayn
Raif has a passion for making civic education accessible to everyone. He believes that understanding how government works shouldn't require a law degree — it should be something every young person can grasp and use.
Sophie Martin
A community organizer turned podcaster, Sophie brings real-world experience to every episode. She's seen firsthand how policy affects everyday people and is determined to help young voters understand their power.
"We started this podcast because we were tired of being told to 'just vote' without anyone explaining why it matters or how the system actually works. If we want young people to engage, we have to give them the tools to do it."
